| Fundaniños is an orphanage with up to 50 children of all ages;
it was founded in 1991 by a group of Christian volunteers who started working
in juvenile jails delivering a message of hope and change. Through this
they realized the different needs of the children who found themselves
trapped in a system that denied them any possibilities of achieving change.
Through
this time they realized the need of creating preventive programs which
would help keep children who are in high-risk from ending up on the streets
or institutional programs.
High-risk children are those who are abandoned, mistreated or abused
at their homes, or any where else, who find us as an alternative solution
to living on the streets.
Fundaniños works with the collaboration of juvenile courts, which
refer children to a specific orphanage, so the healing process can begin,
including the possibilities of adoption into a loving family.
Fundaniños was legally established as a non-profit organization
by the Guatemalan government's agreement 143 on December 14th, 1993. We
are also a registered 501c3 organization in the United States, and all
donations
are tax deductible.
The founders of Fundaninos are Manolo Bendfeldt, Vilma Castillo de Bendfeldt
and Ruby deAsturias. |
